R A Brown Heating Services Ltd is a family run company which was established in 1987. We are the local, independent experts in heat pump systems - design and installation in Norfolk & North Suffolk. From ground source to air source, underfloor heating, to solar thermal or mechanical ventilation and heat recovery, we will simplify the choices and install the right system for an efficiently-heated property. With excellent product knowledge, qualified designers and plumbing expertise, our team is passionate about your project and offers a personal service.

A barn conversion with a beautiful solid flint wall feature which the customer wished to keep, required an air source heat pump cascade system to compensate the heat losses. R A Brown Heating Services worked with a property developer who was building an exclusive development of 10 homes, fitted with Air Source Heat Pumps with underfloor heating and radiators. Norfolk Bluebell Wood Burial Park in Hainford, is a unique nature inspired burial park set amongst 18 acres of land. The land was purchased by the owners with the intention to use the land for agricultural purposes.

R A Brown have been designing, supplying and installing underfloor heating (UFH) in Norfolk properties since 1990 so you can rest assured that you are in experienced hands. We have helped more than 500 homeowners to make their homes warm and cozy by installing underfloor heating systems for them. UFH can work well with both conventional and renewable heating systems, so you don't have to change your heating system to have underfloor heating fitted in your home. You can also combine both UFH and radiators within the same system.

In September 2012 we opened a Showroom with a working air source heat pump and underfloor heating. There are displays of the products from two heat pump Manufacturers NIBE, and Vaillant showing both ground and air source units. There are also displays of underfloor heating options, a solar thermal hot water cylinder and panels. Also on display are modern quality radiators from The Radiator Company and Stelrad and a working model of a mechanical ventilation and heat recovery unit. The Showroom is open from 7.15 am - 4.30 pm Monday - Thursday and 7.15am -4.00pm on Friday.

R A Brown was involved with this new build property which was looking for renewable options. An Air Source Heat Pump, UFH, MVHR & Rainwater Harvesting system were fitted to meet the customers needs. R A Brown was involved in supplying and installing the Underfloor heating, connecting the ground source pump and also carrying out all the plumbing work on the building.

The ground maintains a constant temperature of between 8-12 degrees - all year round, even during the coldest of British winters. This reliability means that a Ground Source Heat Pump can heat your home and hot water by using the energy that is naturally stored in the ground or even a nearby water source. Pipes that are buried in the garden, these then cleverly extract the solar energy that is absorbed every day; converting this to a higher temperature for your central heating and your hot water.

An extended semi-detatched property in Norfolk heated with an electric boiler which we installed a Ground Source Heat Pump with boreholes. Mr & Mrs M were building an extension to their barn conversion, in addition to renovating the existing part of their property. R A Brown fitted 2 x 12kw ASHP to meet the heat load requirement of the property. Mr & Mrs G were looking for a heating and hot water solution to cover two properties on their land. After lots of discussion, it was decided a GSHP, Solar Thermal & PV would be the best option.

If you dread the arrival of your next energy bill, you aren't alone. The seemingly constant energy price hikes along with concern about continuous burning of finite fossil fuels has meant that more and more homeowners are searching for alternatives. Transforming heat from the outside air to heat your home, an Air Source Heat Pump acts like a refrigerator running in reverse - rather than extracting hot air to cool, it converts cooler air from outside your home into energy that heats the hot water for your heating system.

Mr & Mrs D live in a 2 bedroom converted stable block in a rural area of Norfolk with no gas supply. Their barn conversion was part of a complex of 6 barns. R A Brown were asked to provide heating and hot water solutions for 3 properties, each barn was of a different size and style and were part of a complex of 5 barn conversions in North Norfolk. A converted barn with no existing heating supply, where R A Brown completed a Ground Source Heat Pump, Underfloor Heating and Solar Thermal installation.

In addition to our specialist services we offer a complete plumbing service. Customer's managing their own project find this invaluable as there are less contractors to organise. R A Brown plumbs using WRAS approved aluminium layered pex pipe where appropriate and traditional copper where necessary. R A Brown aims to set the standard for good practice, MD Richard Brown is a member of the Chartered Institute for Plumbing and Heating Engineers (CIPHE) and adheres strictly to building regulations by installing distribution manifolds which means each water circuit can be isolated.

Richard, Louise, Dax & Silviu attended the National ACR & Heat Pump awards ceremony in Manchester at The Midland Hotel on Thursday 27th January 2020. We were absolutely over the moon to bring back to Norfolk the national award for Heat Pump Installer of the. R A Brown Heating Services were pleased to win Heat Pump Installer of the Year at the National ACR & Heat Pump Awards in Manchester last week. The judges selected R A Brown as winners, having completed 52 individual heat pump installations over the past.

Absorbing solar energy each day, the ground maintains a constant temperature of between 8-12 degrees all year round. A Ground Source Heat Pump extracts this energy from the earth or a nearby water source; converting this to a higher temperature for your central heating and your hot water. With an energy efficiency average of 400% when compared to a conventional system, these highly effective systems produce three times the amount of energy they consume to run the heat pump itself - meaning you make substantial savings and reduce your carbon footprint at the same time.

Since 1987 our team, led by MD Richard Brown, has helped hundreds of people in Norfolk and North Suffolk choose and install bespoke heat systems. Working with home owners, architects and developers, we supply and install ground and air source heat pumps, energy-efficient boilers, mechanical ventilation heating recovery, solar thermal equipment and underfloor heating. We'll even talk you through the Renewable Heat Incentive - where qualifying properties can get money back from the government.

However, you can reduce your bills significantly by upgrading to a highly efficient heating system. Think of an Air Source Heat Pump as a household refrigerator running in reverse. Instead of extracting hot air to cool, it converts the cooler air from outside your home into the energy to heat the hot water for your central heating system. A renewable heating alternative, an Air Source Heat Pump is far more energy efficient compared to conventional oil, gas or electric systems - resulting in significant cost savings for your household.

We have helped reduce bills and increase efficiency in a range of buildings, and we are ready to give advice on government incentives for rural offices and units that could utilise an air source or ground source heat pump. Our work has benefited holiday properties such as the beautiful Barsham Barns cottage collection in North Norfolk, the large Elizabethan manor house Felmingham Hall and the community rooms at Emmanuel Church, Bungay. The church hall has since won the Building category award at Suffolk's Greenest County Awards and R A Brown was a finalist for the Design and Development category of the EDP Business Awards in 2014 and won Retrofit Project of the Year 2015 at the H&V News Award for our work with the Emmanuel Church.

Norfolk & Suffolk have historically been a major centre for agriculture which is the most dominant use of land within the region. Agricultural businesses are starting to think differently about ways in which their land can work for them. In addition to farming, many businesses are diversifying and using some of their land to create holiday let cottages. R A Brown has a proven track record working with many Norfolk farmers providing traditional and renewable heating solutions. We have become specialists in barn conversions due to our strength of being able to design bespoke heating systems.
