Sometimes you can't say why you like something (or someone) - you just do. In this corner of our website, you'll find items of vintage furniture that date from centuries ago, all the way forward to the 1970s. We know lots of stuff about lots of things when it comes to furniture and you can be sure that we'll tell you all we know about it. And you can rest assured that it's been lovingly restored, cleaned, revived and generally taken care of before it arrives on the shop floor to tempt you. We don't over-restore things, but instead sensitively carry out only what needs to be done to preserve the piece's character, natural colour and patination achieved through age and integrity.

We've been salvaging, restoring, converting and selling reclaimed furniture and other useful household items which we've rescued from old factories, workshops, schools and hospitals for almost 30 years. Complementing this range, there are now a handful of manufacturers around who are making retro versions with a similar feel. We've usually got anything from heavy-duty light fittings and lamps to Singer sewing machine stools, hospital trollies and stacking chairs to raw pine tables on giant castors and much more in our range of industrial furniture.

Despite starting life in the world of antiques and vintage furniture, two of our most experienced buyers spent their college years at art and design schools and that has meant we've always kept one eye on good, modern design. Since After Noah first started, our stock has included a mixture of vintage and contemporary furniture, because it's rare for people to live life with a completely purest aesthetic. Most of us live with practical new items, a favourite chair inherited from our mum, a cool find in a junk shop and myriad other items that make our houses homes.

Here at After Noah, we sell a wide range of furniture that spans antique, vintage, mid-century and contemporary pieces - all of it viewable both here on our website and on our shop floor. All of the antique, vintage and mid-century furniture runs through our on-site workshop to ensure it's in beautiful condition before it makes it out onto the floor for sale.

Combining contemporary styling with classic design, our range of lighting products provide innovative solutions for all your lighting needs. We stock and sell the widest range of lights and lighting products, which are curated with one purpose in mind: to complement the furniture we sell. From ceiling to floor, desk to bedside, mid-century to modern design, you're sure to find the perfect lighting to suit your own - and your furniture's - personality. Our range of lighting adds a touch of style to any setting, to help you create cherished memories with your family and loved ones.

Have your furniture sympathetically nursed back to health by experienced and traditional craftsmen. Our workshop was established in 1938 by Matthew Crawford's grandfather, Robert Keyes, in Shoreditch, the then heart of Britain's antique and furniture trade. Only restoration that is strictly necessary is carried out - preferring to conserve whenever possible - ensuring that your furniture remains in as original a condition as is practicable, retaining its natural patination and continuing to appreciate in value.

Our rugs are practical and stylish - some with traditional weaving techniques and others with a range of rugs made from recycled bottles, making them incredibly durable and yet stylish with designs ranging from traditional to mid-century modern. We've been sourcing, buying and selling cool and stylish rugs and carpets ever since we set-up shop more than 30 years ago. We live, love and breathe practical, yet fashionable rugs and carpets designs. Every carpet and rug we purchase has been hand-picked by our team of dedicated and experienced buyers, with an eye on quality, design, current or retro trends.

We've sourced and curated the most unique and unusual home decorating accessories and small furnishing items to make the most of your beautiful home.

Definitely the place to go if you need proper furniture restoration. I brought in a well used, well loved butler table which obviously had seen better days. It had water marks, uneven staining and varnish, deep scratch marks and a broken stand. The quote for reconditioning was very reasonable considering how much work needed to be done. I also appreciated the honesty on when work would commence and the duration it would take. It was definitely worth the wait. The final product was immaculate. The replacement part to fix the broken stand was barely distinguishable from the original piece.

If you own an old faithful, comfy piece of upholstered furniture - you're probably attached to it. We all have a piece like that which we love and relax in every day. Lounging whilst you watch the telly or stealing a quick nap before the kids get home from school. Good quality, well-made antique, vintage and much older upholstered furniture last for years. Old sofas and armchairs manufactured before about 1940 have already proved that they stood the test of time, but after 50 or more years, it might be time for some lovin'.

Almost anything is restorable and we've got a thousand and one techniques and skills to bring to bear to sort out most problems. Below is a brief guide, plus a list of some of the things that aren't really up our street. We specialise in the repair and restoration of antique, vintage and mid-century, predominantly wooden furniture. If your request falls within those broad parameters, then we'd be happy to provide you with an estimate. To begin the process, simply send am email to [email protected] with a few photos, one of which should include one of the whole piece of furniture, plus as many detailed shots of the damage as you think may be helpful.

I've always had fantastic service at this shop, there is no place like it in London that I know of. They have extensive knowledge of their original vintage pieces with a really nice mix of modern quirky things mixed in. Super stylish! Will definitely be back.

Very disappointed about not being given a refund for untouched goods only recently bought. Will be avoiding this so which does not value its customers. Goods are poor quality and overpriced because they are marketed as nostalgic but nothing is authentic.

French polishing: looks easy, it's really not. It takes years of practice and just getting a feel for it, so it's tricky to teach and skill very much develops with experience. Here, Oscar is polishing a mid-century plywood chair after having repaired the veneer.

Still a bit cold for real gardening, at least for those of us who are fair-weather gardeners. We're a little obsessed (in a good way) with face and figure vases and pots and she's my favourite of the moment, so maybe stay inside and warm, while you tinker with your green fingers.

My favourite set of chairs in stock at the moment. Run through our workshop: re-glued, cleaned, polished and reupholstered in this cool fabric we found and which feels just right from that era.

Since @gailsbakery moved in across the road, I can't stop eating sourdough bread. But if you're not fortunate enough to have one nearby, you could always try this.
