Thatched houses have graced the English scenery for centuries. Contrary to widespread belief, the tradition still thrives to date, and is a symbol of our rich cultural heritage. Fowler & Sons Master Thatchers Ltd was founded in 1976, and since then, has remained committed to preserving the longstanding tradition. Steve, at the helm of the company, is a bona fide Master Thatcher, who has passed down his vast wealth of thatching knowledge to his sons Neil and Ben. Together, Fowler and his sons dedicate themselves to providing wide-ranging roof thatching services to clients.

Thatch is a natural product composed of reeds, grass or heathers which are cut, dried, and thatched to form a waterproof roof. Generally, any roof can be thatched, but roofs with more than a 45-degree slope are preferred because they shed water fast. A roof with a lower pitch will not shed water as fast, so will not have the same lifespan. We offer a comprehensive design and build service to enhance a property with a thatched porch or summerhouse. This makes us the preferred master thatchers in Gloucestershire.

At Fowler's, we are all about family. Steve Fowler, a proud owner, has been thatching for over 40 years and his two sons, Neil and Ben, joined in 2002 and 2007, working alongside him ever since. A thatched roof is a great investment and its performance depends on many factors, including expertise and materials, and as master thatchers in Wiltshire, we are committed to creating a thatched roof you will be proud of. Our vast portfolio is a testament to our skill and dedication and our team has spent many years honing their craft across all aspects of thatching work.

Fowler and Sons have just finished a complete re-thatch of our beautiful 300 year old house in Little Milton. The whole team have been very professional and courteous, and their workmanship and skill was truly impressive to say the least. Thanks so much guys for restoring our home to a new level of glory!

Great service, excellent work, marvellous people! Highly recommended.

The best thatchers I have ever experienced working on Swiss Cottage in Shrivenham. Their experience and work is impeccable. Will definitely recommend and employ again should the occasion arise.
