Heat Mat is one of the leading manufacturers and distributors of electric underfloor heating in the UK and has become the brand name of choice for the professional installer. We manufacture innovative ranges designed to satisfy the unique requirements of the UK market and provide cost effective heating systems. Over the last twelve years we have led the market in the development of what have now become standard products, including the introduction of sole source heating 200W/sqm systems, fully earthed underlaminate ranges and BEAB approved products.

Conservatories and garden rooms bring the garden into our home; however, the cold evenings don't need to signal the end of using your conservatory for another year. The luxurious warmth of an invisible underfloor heating system means that these rooms can be used all year round and at any time of day.

Beneath tile and stone floors we recommend installing our standard heating mat or heating cable. If the floor base is concrete the system can be laid directly onto the floor and skimmed with tile adhesive or covered with a latex screed. The tiles or stone can then be laid directly on top. This method ensures the heating system will have a fast heating up time and maintains a low build height. For the fastest possible warm up time you should install our240W/sqm heating matsand use thermalunderfloor heating insulation boardsbeneath the heating system.

Our bedrooms are the most important rooms in our houses where we spend around a third of our time. Electric underfloor heating systems can transform them into the cosiest spaces in your home with gentle controllable warmth helping you to get the perfect night's sleep.

Whether it is breakfast with the kids before school, entertaining at a dinner party in the evening in your dining room or watching Netflix in the living room, underfloor heating helps turn the room into a warm and homely environment.

For polished and painted concrete floors of at least 55mm thickness we recommend using our in-screed heating cables by embedding them directly into the concrete. This is a low cost option and adds nothing to the build height whilst providing a very stable temperature. If the concrete layer is thinner than 55mm and suitable for use with underfloor heating then standard heating matscan be used and covered with the concrete. If it is not suitable to have underfloor heating encased within it, we recommend using our standard heating mats, covered with 12mm of levelling compound and then installing the concrete floor on top of the levelling compound.

There are two options for safely heating carpeted floors, one is with a 12mm layer of levelling compound over a 160W/m heating mat and the other option is our combymat system combined with overlay boards (see picture). Be aware that the underlay should have a Tog rating no higher than 0.8 Tog, and the carpet no higher than 2.0 Tog. Most hessian-backed carpets have a Tog rating below this. Thermalunderfloor insulation boards installed beneath the heating system will increase the heating up time and reduce running costs.

Heat Mat Self-levelling Compound, produced by Mira, is a high quality fibre-reinforced self-levelling floor compound specifically designed for use with underfloor heating to provide a fast and efficient heat transfer. It is ideal for use when electric underfloor heating is laid beneath carpets, Karndean, vinyl or bonded engineered floor boards as it provides a safe base to install the floor on and provides an effective heat spread, ensuring no hot or cold spots. Heat Mat Self-levelling Compound can be used in thicknesses of 5-50mm, (a minimum of 12mm is recommended with underfloor heating), and can accept floor coverings such as carpet, bonded wooden floors, vinyl and tiles including mosaics.

As with carpeted floors, there are two options for safely heating vinyl or Karndean floors and these both involve covering the heating element with screed or levelling compound to help spread the heat evenly across the floor. If you are laying a screed then you can use anin-screed heating cablewith a maximum output of 160W/sqm, which provides a very stable temperature, and is the most cost effective method of installing underfloor heating. If you are not laying a screed then we recommend laying our160W/sqm heating mats and covering these with at least 12mm of flexible self-levelling compound to help spread the heat.

We manufacture high-quality electric underfloor heating and associated products in the UK, Denmark and Germany. Because we are the manufacturer of our systems and construct the products we supply, we have the flexibility to make modifications or develop bespoke systems prior to, or during, production. Our electrical products are handmade in BEAB approved factories by expert technicians, and in most circumstances, the bespoke products can still carry full BEAB approval. We produce high quality systems that meet European health and safety standards; all products are 17thEdition compliant and, where relevant, are suitable for use as part of a Part L compliant system.

With laminate floors it is vital to spread the heat evenly beneath the flooring to avoid discolouration or movement in the floor. For residential properties we recommend installing our 6mm Decora insulation layer onto the floor to prevent downward heat loss and then installing our Underlaminate System heating mats on top. These mats have an output of 150W/sqm and due to their dual-conductor design are fast to install. They are fully earthed for safety unlike a carbon film heating system. The benefits of this system are rapid reaction time, has a low build height and no 'wet trade' (such as levelling compounds) is required during the installation.

With more of us than ever before extending our homes, Heat Mat is the perfect partner to help you realise your dreams by incorporating a modern energy efficient underfloor heating system into your new rooms.

As we look to increase the space we have available at home more of us are renovating our outbuildings, garages and sheds to allow for more regular use, or even investing in a cabin in the garden to be a home-office, studio or gym. Underfloor heating enhances the space enabling all year round use while generating a cosy warmth.

Underfloor heating adds an element of luxury to any bathroom and provides a lovely warm floor allowing you to avoid the shock of a cold floor first thing in the morning. The gentle warmth provided by a Heat Mat system will enhance your luxuriant soak in a bath and avoid any chills when stepping out of the shower, all while freeing up the wall space from needing an unattractive radiator. For further luxury you can prevent condensation on your mirror with one of our mirror demisters or use our wall heating systems to provide hidden towel warming.
