Surface Solutions (NI) Ltd offers a comprehensive range of decorative outdoor/indoor paving options. Our primary paving products, Surface Bound Gravel and Resin Bound Gravel, offer customers the benefits of hard wearing pavements coupled with aesthetically pleasing natural stone finishes. In addition to our paving range we manufacture innovative landscaping products including: bespoke outdoor furniture, natural stone cladding & walling, ironwork, water features, garden art and a complete driveway and garden design and build service.

Surface Solutions can provide garden design advice and a complete construction service. For larger projects we can utilise the expertise of professional landscape architects. During the construction of a memorial garden at a special needs home in Bangor, we demonstrated our ability to develop a design concept from inception to a constructed sensory garden.

Our range of water features have been inspired by some of the most stunning beauty spots across Ulster as their names suggest. The stones used to build our water features are handpicked slate and quartzite from the province of Ulster. Each feature is constructed by local trades people. The water feature pumps have a 5 year guarantee and the light fixtures a 2 year guarantee. The Glenariff and Ramelton features have been designed to fit into corners so as to minimise the space they occupy. Both of these ranges are particularly well suited for indoor use but are equally suited for outdoors.

Our management team has over 30 year's civil engineering construction experience. We can provide civil engineering advice on matters such as sewers and drainage, sightline improvements and retaining walls. Contact us for a free consultation to discuss any civil engineering issues relating to your property or business premises.

The project architect for the recently opened Bullitt Hotel, Church Lane Belfast, chose our Surface Bound Gravel decorative pavement for the outdoor bar and entrance alleyway. We were responsible for designing the concrete slab gradients and drainage installations. The works had to be carried out to a strict timetable and involved working with the electrical subcontractor and sculptor who designed the signature "stacked barrel feature". The architect requested a dull gravel effect and so the slab was not sealed to bring up the natural colour in the quartzite aggregate we used in the concrete mix.

Self Binding Gravel consists of decorative stones that have been graded and mixed to form a self supporting surface. Using angular stones we maximise the structural capacity of self binding gravels. The aggregate blend is optimised via mixing to ensure structural and binding benefits are achieved. The gravel can be placed by hand or machine laid. After spreading the gravel, a vibrating plate or roller is used to compact the stones and lock them into position. We recommend laying a 50mm base stone topped with 50mm of wearing coarse decorative gravel.

Our client had completed the main building works on a new detached house on the outskirts of Ballynahinch. They were looking for a weed free decorative pavement which was low maintenance and complimented the contemporary house design. They visited our show area a number of times and decided the best option was our exposed aggregate concrete product - Surface Bound Gravel. In addition to the specialist pavement laying works we also installed the edging kerbs, and designed the final pavement gradients so as to avoid the need to install gullies and created a disabled ramp.

In conjunction with our landscape construction service, we can also supply and fit mild steel fencing, handrails and gates. The handrail shown was created using a concept brought to us by a client. From the concept the client provided we were able to design, fabricate, powder-coat and erect this bespoke handrail. We can tailor your fencing and gate requirements as illustrated. This client wanted a matching Iroko gate and fence. After agreeing a suitable design with the client, we were able to have the fence and gate made to order and fitted.

Love my new garden. Thanks Richard and his team, lovely people to work with!

This public realm sub contract at the Gasworks in Belfast used our resin bonded gravel system. We were able to lay the bonded gravel (coat & scatter) over an existing concrete pavement. We used a golden quartzite gravel which; in addition to its aesthetic feature, provided a high slip resistant.

We were employed by a landscape designer to install the exposed aggregate concrete driveway at this job in Gilford. The decorative aggregate was chosen by the client and added to the concrete in lieu of normal stone. After the concrete was laid, we sprayed it with a compound which slows the setting.

This recently complete patio refurbishment in Killyleagh involved demolition of and existing wall and construction of a new decorative seating / plant concrete plinth. We also constructed new large planter containers faced with decorative paving bricks. The existing rough stone pavement was overlaid.

This project was recently completed in Crumlin. The existing concrete paving flags had settled and there was weeds growing in the joints. We removed the weeds and reset the flagstones as required prior to overlaying with resin bound gravel. We formed a raised patio area adjacent to the main access.
