Our work covers traditional and heritage and listed buildings and more modern ones too, including tower blocks and domestic housing. From our base in Leeds, we've expanded our damp survey and wall tie report service to cover all surrounding areas including Sheffield, Bradford, Harrogate, York and Wakefield. We're fully accredited Property Care Association members with 100% qualified staff, right the way from our surveyors to each and every one of our damp, timber and wall tie technicians. Cavity wall tie replacement and specialist structural repairs to masonry are in our blood - we're Helifix and Cintec approved and have 30 years of experience in these repair methods (though the boss has nearly 4 decades under his belt).

We treat woodworm and rot problems in Leeds, Sheffield, York, Harrogate and throughout Yorkshire. Our team at Brick Tie Preservation are time-served timber experts in helping homeowners deal with troublesome timber infestations. We are Woodworm, dry rot and wet rot experts. Of course you can't have rot without another of our specialist subjects: damp. Where infestations are caused by a damp problem it is essential that the cause of the damp is identified correctly. The damp must be rectified in order for the timber treatment to be a long lasting and guarantee success.

Our parent company is Brick-Tie Limited - one of the foremost experts in wall tie replacement and structural repairs in the UK. Our comprehensive masonry repairs service ensure that every element of your structural issues can be treated with our 30 years of skill, experience and diligence - for a smoother, more efficient and more cost-effective approach. From cottages, to Victorian Terrace houses, pre-war Semi-detached homes to ‘One off' architect's specials - we've repaired them all with a smile.

As preservation experts, we're often asked: "What is rising damp?" Essentially, rising damp is exactly as it sounds - moisture rising from the ground, seeping up your masonry and brickwork. If your property doesn't have a damp proof course, or does, but it's very old, bypassed by ‘bridging', your building could be more susceptible to this unsightly and damaging problem. Many common building materials like stone, brick and lime mortar draw up water through capillary action - think of the way a sponge works, and you'll soon get the idea.

As approved commercial damp proofing contractors, we've served Yorkshire businesses and built environment professionals for 30 years. Our MD remembers the first commercial job - a chemical injection damp course for a large bakery in Leeds. Since then we've worked on hundreds of commercial projects. Times change though and after three decades, the environment on commercial projects and building sites is unrecognisable. Quality standards, health and safety and the legal framework, have all gone through a revolution and, so have we.

Serving customers in Leeds, York, Sheffield, Harrogate, Bradford and across Yorkshire, our fully trained damp specialists will make sure you get the right damp proofing services for your individual requirements. With decades of experience, we know that treating and preventing damp isn't a case of a 'one treatment fits all' solution, which is why we conduct a full damp survey to ensure that we don't waste your time or money! Damp can arise due to a number of different root causes, and only by identifying the core issue can we advise on the best damp proofing service to tackle the problem.

Remember that we can help with damp-proofing, wall tie replacement and structural repairs, as well as dry rot, woodworm and mould problems too. Action will be taken against any individual or organisation using any protected content without prior permission. BT Preservation is the trading name of Brick-Tie Limited.

Our surveyors will assess of all of these factors to ensure that any recommended treatment is genuinely required, is safe for your family and is as cost-effective as possible. A series of investigations will be conducted and we'll draw on our knowledge and experience to find the very best solution to your problem. Woodworm is really a beetle, and in its larval stage, it causes damage as it feeds on the wood in your property. Of course, it really evolved in the forest and has usually made a mistake by infesting your roof or floor timbers - but that's little consolation when you're struck by these unwanted pests!

With a strong reputation gained over nearly 3 decades of providing high quality and cost-effective dry rot treatment, the friendly, qualified team at Brick Tie Preservation are your local damp, timber and rot experts. Fungus is everywhere, as spores in the air we breathe and in soil: most plants depend on it to break down nutrients they need to flourish. We've treated and successfully eradicated scores of infections by this invasive and tenacious rot from many properties in Leeds, Bradford, York and across Yorkshire.

We've developed our consultancy service to cater for situations where clients just need answers -giving you access to the extensive knowledge of our timber and damp specialists, where our installation and treatment service is overlooked in order to remain totally objective. Perhaps there's a dispute between vendor and buyer, or landlord and tenant; or perhaps a party wall is involved. It may be that the problem has proved insurmountable and previous surveyors have either been unable to find the answer or disagree with each other.

Established since 1986, Brick-Tie Preservation was born from a family damp proofing and preservation company, which had already been established for ten years previously. Initially the business serviced wall tie replacement and structural repairs, with the parent company taking responsibility for the damp proofing, basement waterproofing and timber treatment sectors. This all changed in 1991, when the parent company was sold and Brick-Tie became independent and able to serve all our specialist sectors.

We'd like to introduce you to the Brick-Tie team. We look after each other and we look after our customers. We're proud of our Investors in People accreditation, which is central to our business philosophy. When you spend your money with us; on damp proofing, timber treatment or wall tie and structural work, much of it goes on excellent training, fair wages and a safe working environment, with good working conditions for our team. Installing your dampcourse, treating woodworm, waterproofing your basement; structural repairs, installing wall ties, or surveying for you; exceptional customer service for the people of Yorkshire is our goal.

As commercial structural repair specialists, we've been helping commercial clients with projects across Leeds and Yorkshire for around 3 decades. Bulging retaining walls, cracked floor slabs and slipped arches in stone or brick are a common sight for us. These feature in some of our case studies which you may want to view as an example of our proficiency. Our parent company is Brick-Tie Limited, so of course we are wearing a 30 year old t-shirt when it comes to structural work and wall ties. These are our Commercial pages - if you are a residential or domestic client - please visit our homeowners structural repair section.

Penetrating damp is pretty much how it sounds, as it simply means that water is passing through an external wall and into a building, penetrating your protective shell and causing issues on the inside. The most obvious signs of penetrating damp are stains on the internal face of the external wall. Sometimes the stains will be accompanied by surface disruption of the paint or plaster, caused by evaporation of penetrating rainwater. Black mould may be present too, along with some other symptoms that can also be characteristic of other damp problems.

These terms come up every day, all around Yorkshire. Damp surveys and timber surveys usually arise when people are either buying or selling a house, or when there's just a need to check-out a stain, peeling paper or a damp smell. The problem is that most of us don't buy and sell houses every day, so when damp surveys or damp reports are asked for due to a pre-purchase, people don't know where to turn and that leaves them open to stress, confusion and sometimes, poor service. Estate agents can help with advice of course, but remember that they are working for the vendor - not for the buyer.

Our wet rot anddry rot specialists offer a fully comprehensive range of services to commercial clients. We can helpin identifying, planning, costing and rectifying issues with dry and wet rot onyour premises or projects you may be involved with. The problem with dry rot andwet rot and is that when these infections are discovered, they can have a huge impact. We've seen many projects delayed or the budget blown apart by the late discovery of a dry rot outbreak or severe, hidden wet rot. Our dry rot specialists are here to make sure that developers and commercial property stakeholders have full, clear details on any dry or wet rot problems early on.

One of the unfortunate side-effects of damp problems is that wood in your property can become compromised by wet rot, dry rot, or unwanted pests in the form of woodworm - and if this is the case, timber treatment, timber repair or replacement may be required. Pretty much any property can be susceptible to these types of timber damage, as wood is such a commonly used building material - from door and window frames, to supporting joists, roof structures and partition walls. Here at Brick Tie Preservation, our leading and highly qualified timber experts will ensure that your timber repairs are undertaken with the least amount of disruption and in the most cost-effective way possible - with no compromise on our very high standards.
