Statkraft, Europe's largest producer of renewable energy, has signed an agreement to acquire the solar pioneer Solarcentury. Founded in 1998, Solarcentury has been around since the early days of the solar industry. We've been part of the rapid evolution that has made solar PV a mainstream energy source that it is today, and are proud to be one of the most respected solar companies in the world.

Solarcentury is in business for a purpose: to make a meaningful difference in the fight against climate chaos through the widespread adoption of solar power. As solar prices continue to fall, production capacity increases, and the industry continues to innovate. Solar is quick to deploy and scalable; it is unquestionably proven in its ability to deliver an energy transition at scale and at speed, disrupting traditional utility models in the process. At the time Solarcentury was founded by Jeremy Leggett, solar was niche and not well known.

Solarcentury is more than a developer. We operate an integrated model which means we develop, build, own and operate solar farms. We also manage the key financial and commercial stages - from equity and debt, to the PPA and energy management. We see this integration as key to our success. Previously Barbara was Vice President International Project Development and Finance at Conergy. She has 15+ years experience in the renewable industry and more than 18+ years in M&A and structured finance in the banking and renewable energy industry.
