No1 Preservation (formerly EJC Preservation) has many years experience in the identification and treatment of woodworm, dry rot, wet rot, rising damp & condensation problems. In the first instance we carry out a full technical survey in order to identify the nature of the problem and outline remedial work required. We are based in Elgin, Moray. Surveys and timber preservation treatment works are carried out across the North East including Inverness, Moray and Aberdeenshire. We use a full range of chemical treatments, which includes newer more environmentally friendly options.

The Elgin Joinery Company (EJC) was started in 1983 in Elgin, Morayshire. Whilst carrying out a major contract in Moray. A large dry rot outbreak was found to be affecting the building. EJC were contacted to. They found it difficult to sub-contract these works at a cost the client would accept so they undertook various courses in Timber Preservation and became approved suppliers of Sovereign Chemicals. They were then able to undertake the dry rot outbreak successfully. Since then Timber Treatment and Preservation went on to form a large part of the business along with the repairs and maintenance of listed and older buildings.

Dampness in buildings can cause an increase in the moisture content of timber. In turn, fungal decay can then occur. Excessive dampness can causes other problems such as deteriorating brickwork, mold growth, electrical problems and condensation problems. There are many causes of dampness, roof defects, plumbing problems, faulty damp proofing. Rising Damp: As most building materials are porous, when a wall is built in contact with the ground, moisture will travel from the ground upwards. A damp proof course (dpc) provides a barrier to prevent this.
