Founded in 1975 by Nigel Johnson and family, Burford Garden Company has grown into a one-of-a-kind destination store for those seeking a unique, curated mixture of plants, gardenalia, home decor, furniture, art, clothing and food to reflect their individual style. We draw our inspiration from the very latest garden and interior trends to bring you an ever-changing visual feast of hand-picked and unique products, with new collections arriving every week. The 'family' may have grown a little bigger now, with our 170 strong team, but our 15-acre store is still a very personal place to shop.

In a lovely garden setting here at Burford, Crane Garden Buildings showcases its comprehensive range, including the sheds and summerhouses it created for the National Trust. This is one of the largest sites of its kind in the country, and we are proud of our partnership with Crane. In 2019, family-run company Crane Garden Buildings won the 5 Star Trade Stand Award at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show for the sixth year in a row, enjoying year upon year success since 2013. The company received the award for their show-stopping display with two garden buildings nestled into a romantic garden reminiscent of a woodland walk.

From beautiful copper hand tools to superb handforged hoes, spades and forks, here's our choice selection of just some of our high quality gardening tools, including Burford's own range and a superb collection from Japan. Many are handcrafted, a dream to hold and use, and made to last.

Whether you are looking for a focal point, something to add height or privacy, or garden décor, take your pick from this selection of pots and planters, contemporary and vintage statuary and water features. Much more in store.

We love covetable, unusual and well-made furniture for living and dining in style, much of it hand crafted in the UK. We are also proud of our iconic Lloyd Loom pieces, including colours exclusive to Burford Garden Company. Here you'll find a selection of our in-store range, including artisan-crafted pieces, handmade dining tables and chairs, sumptuous sofas and armchairs, sturdy stools, eye-catching coffee and side tables, statement sideboards and more.

It's our raison d'être to bring you something a bit different for your home, so we hope you will be inspired by our divine home accessories, simply stylish furniture and artisan ceramics and kitchenware from our store.

The company founder and chairman, Nigel lists his interests as fine art, wine and classic motorcycles. An Arts graduate with a Masters in Art History, he previously lived and worked in Australia and has been a franchise operator for Harley Davidson. Nigel has a particular passion for sourcing affordable antique furniture and original art for Burford's Vintage department, much of which is restored and renovated in our own workshops. Nigel is also the Chairman for the social enterprise charity Aspire Oxford, an organisation that assists in the rehabilitation of former homeless people through work, particularly gardening.

This is a much-coveted level of recognition, granted to only a select range of garden and home products. An RHS endorsement is a mark of excellence for horticultural products, recognised by professional and amateur gardeners alike. RHS Licensing Manager Cathy Snow commented; 'The RHS has long admired and enjoyed the work of Hartley Botanic with the manufacturer winning numerous accolades at our RHS Chelsea Flower Show and providing spectacular greenhouses for some of our most visited gardens, including RHS Garden Harlow Carr and RHS Garden Rosemoor.
