Tom Barnard founded Floor Restorer in 2003 from his professional experience in the stone flooring industry. Originally a qualified project manager, he sourced, imported and sold a variety of stone for flooring from overseas. He became involved with stone floor installation and ran teams of installers, undertaking a variety of specialist flooring projects for domestic and commercial customers. While doing this Tom noticed that many floors being replaced could well have been restored and he has become passionate about saving these lovely floors with all their history and beautiful patinas, not to mention the savings in cost and upheaval.

Floor Restorer specialises in cleaning, sealing, restoring and maintaining all types of stone, terracotta, ceramic and composite floors. We have many years' experience working on all kinds of projects both contemporary and traditional. If your existing floor is suffering from dirty grout lines, stains, cracks, scratches, holes, broken surfaces, lippage, or you just can't seem to keep your floor looking clean for more than a week, we are here to help. We deep cleaned, replaced broken tiles and re-sealed this slate floor, bringing back all the beautiful colours in the stone. Slate is a soft stone that can easily be scratched, so choosing the right finish for your floor is important. Rivened (natural, bumpy looking) slate has been used effectively in kitchens for years and creates a more rustic look. However, regular professional maintenance is needed to maintain a slate floor in a busy environment. Cleaning a rivened slate floor can be tricky as accumulations of dirt and dust get compounded into the creases of the stone.

We deep clean marble and can remove scratches and marks before polishing to your specified finish. We offer a diamond polishing service which is a chemical free technique that actually polishes the stone, rather than applying a polish from a bottle, and is much more effective in maintaining the finish. We always apply a sealant. As some stones and finishes are better suited to high traffic areas, we offer a consultancy service to help you choose the right type of floor for particular parts of your home or business.
