Nicholls Boreholes is a highly experienced borehole drilling company having drilled well over 2500 boreholes to date. We supply, install and maintain water boreholes, vertical ground source heat pump (GSHP) boreholes, ground source heat pump systems and deep bore soakaways for houses and businesses and, more recently, cathodic protection boreholes. We deliver a uniquely comprehensive service with our own in-house team undertaking every aspect of your project from site survey to final checks and aftercare service.

We are also one of the first UK companies to offer cathodic protection boreholes, capable of extending the life of underground pipelines and steelwork by over 20 years. Customer service is always our priority at Nicholls Boreholes. You will be assigned an experienced and qualified team to manage and keep you in touch with every aspect of your project, from geological surveys right through to final checks and post-installation service, including advice and all paperwork relating to the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) and Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS), for which we are approved suppliers.

Our team has unrivalled experience of installing ground source heat pumps on residential or domestic sites and our compact drilling equipment (some as narrow as 4' wide) can be used to drill even on cramped garden sites. Although GSHPs are very much associated with country properties, we are increasingly asked to install them at town properties, including homes in central London. You can see an example of a project for an urban clients here. Not are all GSHPs installed in modern properties. Owners of older and period properties are discovering their benefits and we are now frequently connecting GSHPs to conventional gas/oil or electric central heating systems.

Nicholls Boreholes supplies, fits and looks after residential deep bore soakaways for a wide variety of domestic properties, including the older and period homes not usually associated with borehole technology. Residential deep bore soakaways provides a solution where a traditional soakaway or conventional drainage is impractical or too costly. Our emphasis on smooth project management and client service means you can relax, knowing your soakaway will be installed with as little disruption to you or other workmen as possible.

As specialists in borehole drilling and geothermal heating we regularly drill boreholes for GSHPs (Ground Source Heat Pumps) at private properties throughout the South of England. Although residential boreholes for GSHPs are associated with rural homes, they are becoming more popular in towns, not least because they can substantially cut your heating bill and we undertake GSHP borehole projects at a wide variety of domestic properties. We also undertake borehole drilling for GSHPs at older and period properties with conventional central heating, not just at newbuilds where underfloor heating is the norm.

Our experience of working on commercial sites combined with our specialist borehole drilling and geothermal heating expertise makes us the ideal choice to install your commercial GSHP. Unlike many companies we offer a totally comprehensive service from heat pump installation to commissioning, as well as providing the option of ongoing maintenance and support. With our own staff and equipment we drill the borehole, install all the necessary components and ground loops ready for connection and installation of the heat pump and commissioning.

Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHPs) provide energy for heating and hot water by using stored solar energy from under the ground - a completely free and renewable source of energy. This system is often referred to as Geothermal heating and it offers many other attractive benefits. It has low maintenance costs, can save you up on 70% of your fuel bill and can add value to your property. Added to that, it has virtually no environmental impact and is compatible with most modern heating systems - it is particularly suitable for underfloor heating and the heat pump system can also be used to cool your property in summer.

Nicholls Boreholes have been installing Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHPs) for over 12 years, throughout the South East. In that time, we have worked on hundreds of GHSP system and provided a call-out service to most types of systems regardless of who installed them. Nicholls Boreholes' Premier Service Agreement specifically tailored to your system. After commissioning you will be provided with a Completion Pack containing service details, costings and enrolment into your service programme. Should you choose to sign up to our Premier Service Agreement you will be asked to sign a direct debit form for monthly/quarterly payments or a one-off annual payment and our Service Team will contact you annually to arrange a convenient time to undertake your service.

As specialists in borehole drilling and geothermal technology, Nicholls Boreholes is extremely experienced in drilling boreholes for GSHP (Ground Source Heat Pumps) for businesses and private properties. As approved suppliers for the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) we can also help our clients to access funding and take care of paperwork relating to the RHI (Renewable Heat Incentive). We are virtually unique among borehole companies in using our own staff to undertake every aspect of the service from site survey to completion.

If we can access ground water on your land, a water borehole can be created to provide you with a continuous water supply. In fact it's a modern solution that does the job of age-old water wells but brings the water to the surface for you. In addition to drinking, the water can also be useful for gardens and irrigation purposes as a practical alternative to mains water. Once your system is in place, hefty water bills become a thing of the past. Boreholes are also a cleaner source of water and a more environmentally-friendly method of water extraction.

Where a traditional style of soakaway won't work because of geological or site conditions, or where the installation of traditional drainage will be too costly, a deep bore soakaway provides a practical alternative. The soakaway borehole drilling is a similar process to that of water borehole drilling and we use British Standard casing. We aim to make the installation of your deep bore soakaway as simple as possible, with the absolute minimum of disruption. All work is undertaken by our own in-house team and we keep you informed at every stage as well as being available to answer questions or give you updates.

As borehole drilling and geothermal heating specialists, Nicholls Boreholes can take care of every aspect of your GSHP project from the drilling of your borehole to the heat pump installation and the installation of your underfloor heating. Although GSHPs are often associated with rural 'Grand Designs' type properties where underfloor heating is the norm, we regularly install GSHPs at older and period properties with conventional gas or electric central heating. Unlike many companies, we provide a complete, end to end service using our own in house staff.

Our experience and expertise in creating residential water boreholes for private properties is second to none as is our reputation for project management and customer service. A water borehole on your property has a number of benefits. By providing your own, independent source of water from your own land it will start saving you money from the moment it is completed. You will no longer be affected by local water authority hosepipe bans and your borehole will give you a cleaner, more eco-friendly source of water that can add value to your property too.

Many thanks to the great team at Nicholls. A very large project converting our Grade 2 listed Georgian property (+ pool) entirely to ground source heating. They have patiently guided up through every aspect from the initial drilling to the final grant application. Projects like this will never run entirely to plan but, thanks to excellent customer service, it has been relatively painless. We are very happy to recommend them.
