Sustainable Firewood & Timber Supply in Ashburton
Down To Earth has been committed to sustainable woodland management since 1996, operating within the Holne Chase woodland near Ashburtona Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) under Natural England's oversight. Our approach prioritises ecological restoration through traditional methods, including selective tree thinning to enhance biodiversity, which has revitalised habitats for species like the Wood Warbler. With over 25 years of hands-on experience, we combine deep expertise in forestry, gained through partnerships with ecologists and the Duchy of Cornwall, to deliver high-quality hardwood products. Our firewood logs, crafted from sustainably managed woodland, provide both domestic and commercial clients with eco-conscious heating solutions. Handmade wood shelters ensure optimal storage conditions, preserving the quality of seasoned timber.

Every year, we witness tangible improvements in woodland health, from the return of dormant bluebells to thriving understory ecosystems. Our services extend across Devon, serving communities from Ashburton to Totnes with responsibly sourced oak, sweet chestnut, and other timber varieties. Supporting local artists through unique wood offerings underscores our commitment to community and sustainability. By integrating ecological stewardship with practical craftsmanship, we ensure that our operations contribute positively to the environment while meeting client needs. This philosophy has earned us a reputation for reliability and environmental integrity in the South West.

Handmade shelters protect firewood while maintaining airflow for further drying. Constructed from durable larch and oak, these structures combine functionality with aesthetic appeal. Available in various sizes to accommodate seasonal heating needs.
Timber Beams & Planking
Premium oak beams and planks suit both traditional and modern constructions. Harvested from ancient woodlands, this timber offers exceptional strength and durability for flooring, roofing, and load-bearing structures.
