Darren founded Thinking Buildings in 2011 after working on large-scale education projects. He leads the Education Team and specialises in low-energy design and timber construction. A RIBA Part 3 examiner, he combines technical expertise with a passion for sustainable architecture.
James Hutton
Director
James co-founded Thinking Buildings in 2011, bringing 14 years of architectural experience. He focuses on innovative design solutions and client collaboration. Outside work, he enjoys vintage vehicle restoration and exploring the UK countryside with his family.
Rachel Aspinall
Architect & Certified Passive House Designer
Rachel joined Thinking Buildings in 2013 and became a certified Passivhaus designer in 2021. She specialises in sustainable architecture and improving educational environments. Her expertise ensures projects meet rigorous energy efficiency standards while maintaining design integrity.
