Bright Green Homes is an award winning design-manage-build company that specialises in Eco-Renovations. Over many years our in house architects, energy experts and skilled tradesmen have helped turn many houses into beautiful, energy efficient homes while maintaining their charm. We offer small works, Renovations, Loft Conversions, Extensions as well as New Builds. We can offer home energy assessments to help you decide what works you'd be best to to undertake and our architect can help translate this into action, designing in eco-principles and realising your ideas.

This page is here to tell you about Bright Green Homes LLP. We are a small and friendly partnership of committed and experienced consultants and builders based in central Brighton. We specialise in providing impartial advice to homeowners, landlords & anybody else interested in improving the energy efficiency or their home or office, reducing their carbon footprint and improving their impact on the environment while maintaining a beautiful and stylish space. Alex Hunt BSc MA (hons) CfSHA - Founding partner at Bright Green Homes LLP - Alex runs the day to day business and project manages all of the work we do for the last 10 years.

A system that transfers heat stored in the ground into your home. Heat is naturally stored in the ground, the ground source heat pump collects this latent heat and distributes it into your home's heating system. The collectors can either be run horizontally through your land or dropped vertically, which is possibly less disruptive of your land. Essentially it works like a refrigerator in reverse - the pump keeps the ambient temperature in the store lower that the temperature of the ground, drawing the latent heat from the collector into the converter which then raises the heat to approximately 35C (but can be higher).

As an independent organisation, with no ties to any particular supplier or manufacturer, Bright Green Homes offers the best all-round service for any company who wishes to evaluate and improve the level of CO2 emissions from their business premises. We are also able to produce reports for self builders, developers and architects to demonstrate compliance with building regulations and are also accredited Code for Sustainable Homes Assessors. Most microbusinesses use between 5,000 and 15,000 kWh of electricity per year, and should expect to pay an average of 1,349 on their annual electricity bill.

One of the easiest and most cost efficient ways to improve your energy efficiency is to effectively insulate your home. The Energy Savings Trust estimate that around a third of all the heat lost from home escapes through the walls. By insulating the walls within the cavity (post 1920's homes) or by internal or external insulation (solid masonry walls) you can save up to 500 per year. Similarly, up to 25% of heat lost from an un-insulated home goes through the roof - insulating the roof with a suitable product could save you up to 205 per year*.

Our New Build 2019 Ecohouse was a timber frame and masonry hybrid for a creative workspace & music room - BUT - what I forgot to do was give you all updates as we went along with the slab, ground floor blockwork, waterproofing membrane, insulation below ground, carpentry, insulation, roof, windows. Having completed the Retrofit Academy Retrofit Coordinator Course in October last year - Alex is now one of only 40 people in the whole country who hold this qualification and along with Bright Green Homes membership of the Trustmark government endorsed standards scheme you can be sure that your renovation is completed to the highest standards.
